The Minister of Agriculture and Water, Antonio Cerdá, and the rector of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, Jose Antonio Franco, today signed a cooperation agreement that will analyze the different processes of the internal cycle of water treatment plants in the region, through a mathematical calculation method as the one used in the systems and aerodynamic elements subjected to high speeds.
The owner of Agriculture and Water explained that "the circuits of the treatment plants are very complex because the water goes through different stages," adding that through these collaborative work "will try to analyze them and see their performance and optimization".
Work will be done jointly by the Institution of cleansing and purifying of the Region (Esamur) and the Department of Fluid Thermal Engineering of the Technical University, led by Professor Antonio Viedma, and provide detailed circuit behavior running through a purifier, discover paths for improvement and define the actions to correct and optimize resources and energy saving plant.
The regional government, through Esamur and collaboration of universities and leading research centers, maintains a permanent objective of improving the performance of the treatment facilities through various lines of research, such as those already made in the use of the sludge and the energy use of the gases produced in the process of water treatment.
Cerda noted that "any improvement in sanitation and treatment is the result of the investigation" and stressed that "although the Region of Murcia is a benchmark in this area there is still room for improvement."
