The Department of Culture and Archaeological Heritage has recovered signaling Roman Quarries, replacing the previous posters with a similar one which is being implemented in other archaeological sites of the city.
The new posters reproduce the same information they had earlier, but protected with a transparent acrylic plate that protects from weather and vandalism.
The archaeological site of the Roman Quarry is a sandstone farm used for the construction of buildings since time of Roman.
The quarries were intensively exploited for the construction of Carthago Nova.
The use of sandstone blocks, called tabaire, were used in monuments such as the Punic walls, the forum and the Roman theater.
