The mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro, has accompanied this morning the President of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, during the visit the day center Astus-Prolam California is in the neighborhood of Los Dolores.
The president of this social entity, Joaquín Barberá, has led this route by which agencies have known the center, while they have been participants in the various activities at the time of the visit students were performing.
The event was also attended by the Councillor for Social Care, Antonio Calderon, the Minister for Health and Social Policy, Maria Angeles Palacios, and the new president of the Special Commission on Disability Regional Assembly, Violante Thomas.
Throughout its nearly 50 years of existence, the mission has been nothing Prolam that improve the quality of life of people with intellectual disabilities as that of their families. Knowing this social work, post Valcarcel highlight the successes that are the result of public-private collaboration. And, the development of workshops and training activities allows some 222 people to get integrated into social life and find an acceptable level of self-esteem.
While acknowledging the presence of the authorities, Barbera has announced three new shares arising from the support of the City of Cartagena and the Government of the Region of Murcia. The City Council has unveiled the work undertaken in the search for suitable land in order to donate it to Prolam for the creation of a new residence that will be paid for with funds from the entity.
From now only four seats and, hopefully will be filled shortly, explaining Barberá, who has said that the future project includes 50 new units.
With respect to the regional sphere, and according to Barbera, from January 1, 2014, the Region of Murcia autonomous community is the first in which orphans' pensions will receive special treatment, translating into practice a copayment reduction. A third of the measures which are working regards early intervention, which is free and universal to 6 years, concluded Prolam president.
