The College of Architects of Madrid held annually Luis Moreno Mansilla Prize for works of architecture built outside the geographical scope of the Community of Madrid.
The award in its call for 2013 was awarded to cover in Cartagena windlass designed by architects Atxu Amann, Andrés Cánovas and Nicholas Maruri.
The jury's justification focuses on extreme respect to the archaeological remains from a rigorous perspective contemporary architecture.
The windlass cover adds this award to the National Award for Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Property in the Project Area integral of the Roman Forum, awarded by the Ministry of Culture, and the Mies Award nomination of the European Union, and their eligibility to FAD Prize and the Spanish Architecture Biennial.
The project has been published in more than thirty times in books and magazines around the world, becoming one of the most published works of architecture in recent years.
