The Director General of Planning and Housing, Yolanda Muñoz, chaired this week the first meetings of the monitoring committee of the agreement signed with the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) for the development of the first study on 'seismic micro-zoning' that made in a Spanish city.
Lorca is the subject of study of six research teams UPCT, who will be responsible to prepare a report that includes the recommendations for construction.
These studies are performed from various fields (geological, geotechnical and structural) and covers disciplines such as Geodynamics, Geophysics, the Geotechnical and Construction.
Yolanda Muñoz explained that the resulting work will be "a practical document aimed at those technicians dedicated to the construction of buildings and infrastructure, and it aims to decide on the type of building structures most appropriate in each area, depending information to be extracted. "
According to the director general, this document will form part of the compendium of studies that develop since last May 11, 2011 with the Regional Government analyzes what effects suffered the ground after seismic accelerations in different parts of the city.
