The Local Government Board, meeting this morning, under the chairmanship of Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, has ratified the agreement with the concessionaire of the maintenance and operation of the movable city of Cartagena, CEMUSA, so that the stop shelters 170 buses 200 urban and advertising elements called marquees, pass property of the City of Cartagena for a price of 72,000 euros.
As explained by the Town Planning and Heritage, Joaquin Mowing, CEMUSA won this award in 1990.
The grant has been extended and expanded since then, until no more extensions fit and had to be resolved.
According to the specifications of the concession, shelters and other street furniture remained the property of the dealership was required to dismantle and remove its public streets.
This circumstance, which meant a high cost to the company, and the wrong time it goes across the advertising industry, which would have left desert holding a new competition, as has happened in other cities, for the significant investment that would result in the installation new items (about 700,000 euros), has led the council to negotiate their acquisition, to maintain service to the users of public transport and institutional campaigns using these supports.
For Mowing, removal of furniture would have posed a serious problem to the City and has described the agreement as very advantageous, since the price initially requesting the company was 200,000 euros and has been lowered to 70 percent.
From now on the City plans to tendering the maintenance and operation of the same furniture for a few years, so that advertising companies who wish to maintain and exploit it for publicity, until the economic situation improves and can scarse a new Consurso for the renovation and expansion of the furniture.
