The rehabilitation of mineral deposits in the Region of Murcia through the application of industrial waste and livestock, as the marble mud and manure from scratch, will restore contaminated sites Santa Antoinette and The Gorguel and create a new landscape thanks to a European project, involving researchers from the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT).
Researchers, evaluators and managers discussed the European Union today, Wednesday, at the School of Agronomists the European Life + Mipolare project for the rehabilitation of contaminated mining landscapes in the Region of Murcia.
The project, called "post-mined reclamation polluted landscapes by means of valorization of different waste" (Rehabilitation of contaminated mining landscapes by emphasizing different residues) began in 2010.
The main objective is to evaluate, demonstrate and disseminate a sustainable alternative to rehabilitate mining deposits in the Region of Murcia, said the deputy director of Agricultural, María Dolores Gómez.
The project involves researchers Angel Face, Javier Bayo, María Dolores Gómez, Raúl Zornoza, Maria Angeles Muñoz, José Alberto Acosta and Silvia Martinez of the School of Agricultural Engineers.
Other participating institutions and entities such as Presidency and ministries of Industry, Enterprise and Innovation in the Region of Murcia, the technological center of Marble and Portman Golf Company.
