Council, Regional Government, UPCT, Chamber of Commerce and SabadellCAM, today signed an agreement which will provide the starting point for the implementation of an urban space that will be the foundation of the new city's economic model based on research and technology
Entrepreneurs, new business models, technology, are some of the terms that have left it up today after signing the agreement which involves the implementation of the project Ctracción for the c reation of a neighborhood of entrepreneurs in the old city .
An agreement in which they are involved and government forces in the city: the city of Cartagena, the Autonomous Community through INFO, Polytechnic University and the Chamber of Commerce, with the support and sponsorship of the foundation SabadellCAM.
Hence, the signing was attended by the Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, the Minister of Industry, Enterprise and Innovation, José Ballesta, the rector of the UPCT, Jose Antonio Franco, the president of the Chamber of Commerce, Miguel Martinez, and the SabadellCAM Regional Director, Jose Manuel Candela.
The mayor, who qualified today the signing of a partnership, rather than an agreement emphasized the objectives of a project that seeks to turn the historic center of Cartagena in a neighborhood of entrepreneurs, the first catch of young talent college, encourage and support it, the second generating a new economic model based on research and technology, and the third, as a result, the total regeneration of the Old Town.
In this sense, Barreiro highlighted the importance of the University to the city, but our intention is to make the area attractive to entrepreneurs of all origins, our main hotbed of talent is UPCT therefore initiatives as we signed today , will allow us to further strengthen the ties between university administrations and to guide our efforts more specifically to the areas of knowledge in working our University.
The Minister of Industry, in his speech after the signing, also recalled the importance of this project, with which Cartagena is at the forefront of a new social model based on the knowledge economy, talent, creativity and ingenuity, and all this is achieved through the unity of government, university and business, words and commitment which has also joined the Rector of the University.
From now on, the phases of the project, as enumerated President of the Chamber of Commerce, Miguel Martinez, are as follows: first the idea, which is what we already have, second design, phase study is now beginning, third start-up, and, finally, project management.
Finally, José Manuel Candela SabadellCAM bet ratified by such projects in Cartagena and across the region, involving the creation of businesses and jobs, so we will make a contribution, mainly economic, for phase study and analysis of it.

That study materialize best means to be put in place that, with respect to the City, and some of them are clear:
- The adequacy of infrastructure, especially with the reinforcement and modernization of communication systems.
The neighborhood design entrepreneurs will own a smart city with the most advanced technologies in the service of entrepreneurs.
- Development of a program of subsidies and incentives for business creation.
As you know, the city offers important and aids in the area of ​​the Old Town, but will strengthen in this area.
- Streamline administrative processes.
Also in this field has come a long way, but we intend to work hand in hand with the community to improve the procedures for licensing and any administrative process.
LOCATION "OF THE DISTRICT OF ENTREPRENEURS
The Future Entrepreneurs District covers a g ran urban space, 385,000 square meters, accounting for 40 percent of the surface of the historic center of Cartagena, in the western half.
This area is bounded by the Sea Wall, the Wall of Earth, of Merganser and Gisbert and Cuesta del Batel.
Within these limits there are some major facilities and public spaces of Cartagena, including the campus of the Wall and the Auditorium and Congress Palace, part of the neighborhood.
