The 47% of students from the Polytechnic University of Cartagena wants to be an entrepreneur (18/07/2013)

The attitude among students UPCT was once again evident in the survey study 'entrepreneurial intentions among students in the Polytechnic University of Cartagena' that was presented Thursday at the rectory and throws, as the main result, that 47% of students from the Polytechnic professional aims to become an entrepreneur.

However, only between 6 and 15% firmly committed to starting a business in the 5 years following graduation.

The study, led by Professors of Economics Antonia Madrid, Innocence Martinez and Maria Dolores de Miguel, was made from a completed form by UPCT 1,404 students, 21% of all students, who scored on a scale of 1-7 different statements.

The Rector of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, Jose Antonio Franco, Employment and Councilman City of Cartagena, Diego Ortega, present the study on Thursday in the Neo-Gothic Chapel of the Rectory at 10.30am.

The work, part Techniemprende project, funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports and in which institutions and organizations have collaborated concerned about entrepreneurship as INFO, ALDE, CEEIC, AJE, COEC and OMEP, also questions the positioning of students regarding work and domestic inequalities between men and women.

Thus, while 67% of respondents are shown completely convinced that men and women should have equal pay in similar positions, with this statement totally agree only 46% of the male students.

Similar divergences show other survey questions, such as whether women have equal job performance than their male counterparts despite flashes per maternity must exist or the equal sharing of domestic activities.

The entrepreneurial spirit is slightly higher among students than among students, since 16% of them are very predisposed to a company in the five years after graduation for only 12% of them.

They trust in their abilities (5.2 out of 7) that they (4.9) and give more importance to networking (social and professional contacts) to the students.

The research also shows that slightly elevated background family entrepreneurs intend to undertake.
