The full City Council unanimously approved Cartagena an institutional statement of all municipal political parties in favor of maintaining the judicial district of Cartagena.
This judicial district, which includes the towns of Cartagena, Fuente Alamo and La Union, is composed of nine courts of 1st Instance, two of Assizes, two of What Social an Administrative and Section 5th Civil-Criminal Provincial Court, which cover a population of over 350,000 inhabitants.
The statement has been producidocomo result of the release of a draft document, which can be used as a basis for the development of the new Law on Judicial plant promoted by the Ministry of Justice and poses a new organization of justice as a public service.
This document includes the possible disappearance of the Judicial District of Cartagena and 5th Section of the Provincial Court, which will involve the removal of the bodies 1 and 2 First Instance of the city.
In his statement, the City of Cartagena welcomes all measures that contribute to offer citizens a more effective justice, prompt and efficient, but warns that Cartagena has achieved over the years a broad judicial structure, with Palace Justice, centrally, representing the majority of the courts of the municipality.
This structure, in the opinion of the City, benefiting citizen services, facilitates the work of officials, lawyers and attorneys and responds to the criteria that govern the operations of government: proximity, agility and efficiency.
Those are the reasons argued by the full to support the maintenance of the existing courts in the judicial district of Cartagena and commit to work to avoid any decision that results in a reduction of existing services and therefore injury to citizens.
