The Municipal Auditorium is one of fifteen winners of this edition of the awards organized by the Ministry of Public Works in order to recognize and reward quality works that represent the best and diverse panorama of Spanish architecture
The Auditorium and Convention Center of Cartagena The Tender has been awarded the Spanish XII Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism, c omo one of 15 winners of this year that was released over the weekend in Santander in category CÃ VICOS SYMBOLS .
The Tender has been chosen from a total of 27 finalists who, in turn, have been selected from 166 projects accepted in this edition.
Among these projects were others Murcia as Contemporary Art Center of Ceuta Canning or Headquarters Murcia Science Park Foundation, which finally were rewarded.
From the work carried out by the study Selgascano Architects, have said in the Biennale, the Batel is this long building, body, living legacy, continuity of treatment from one place: The port of Cartagena, which is nothing but the limit of a city to the sea.
Everything there is proper, the port itself: the spotless righteousness of the line of the cliff, the sea invariably calm, the artificially flat horizontal spring, the sky as a background variable to this plane, all based on a device to represent the simplest simple and as natural, the artificial enormously plane which equates to more natural.
Since its first edition in 1991, the Spanish Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism is an event that integrates a set of related initiatives to rchitecture in a traveling exhibition that gathers those finalists at the Biennale.
The Biennale is organized by the Ministry of Development, through the Department of Architecture, Housing and Sue, in collaboration with the Council of Colleges of Architects of Spain (CSCAE) and Fundación Caja de Arquitectos and the Union of Groupings of Architects Planners (UAAU).
The purpose of these awards is to recognize and reward a group of works of high quality, which may represent the best and diverse landscape architecture and urbanism in Spain for the years covered by the call, this time 2011 and 2012.
Beauty, innovation, respect for the values ​​of architecture, or commitment to environmental and economic sustainability are some of the factors taken into account when selecting the winners will have the opportunity to be part of the XII Biennial Spanish.
