Students and teachers of the institute last week celebrated the arrival of summer with the eighth edition of The Mills Summer Festival concert held at Bar Coyote Ugly and had a starring Women
The I EN Cartagena Mills met Thursday at the Coyote room Cartagena port to celebrate the eighth edition of The Mills Summer Festival, a project led by music teacher Carlos Campoy, each year is dedicated to a topic and guides repertoire selection, always focused on songs from the 60s and 70s, the golden age of rock, without ignoring any inroads into other times and styles.
While in previous years the concert was dedicated to the soul, the footprint of Dylan and The Beatles, among others, this time e l theme was the woman, seen from different points of view: songs of legendary rockers like Patti Smith (Because the Night ), Amy Winehouse (Back to Black) and Janis Joplin (Piece of My Heart) protest songs (Respect, Aretha Franklin, Woman is the Nigger of the World, Lennon), dedicated to the beloved songs (Angie, the Stones) the mother, the dilemma of sexual roles (Lola by The Kinks, Woman against woman Mecano), holiday music (Cyndi Lauper: Girls wanna have fun), a look seedier sides of womanhood (Roxanne, The Police) or even a whiff macho (Coz Sexiest or My Sharonna of The Knack) ...
In total, a repertoire of 26 songs, performed by a group of 45 students and teachers, including former students who continue to meet for the occasion.
Previously, on Saturday 22, there was a more intimate concert in the garden of the Pearl District pizzeria Rome.
Mills Project (popularly abbreviated as the festival) includes technical knowledge of live sound, searching for information, technical advice and musicals, the design of the shirt (this year inspired pulpcomic of 50) merchandising, etc ...
becoming a preparatory experience for managing music shows different facets, both technical and commercial as (obviously predominantly) art, but above all in a festive occasion where parents, teachers and students gather, and in which young people share a common illusion that jointly strive to improve and give the best of themselves.
