A new video recreates the Cartagena del Teatro Romano (15/05/2013)

The Museum of the Roman Theatre of Cartagena and the Integra / digital content Murcia presented this morning the new audiovisual device for the runner Archaeological Museum.

The event was attended by the Councillor for Culture, Maria del Rosario Montero and the Managing Director of the Integra Foundation, Onofre Molino, accompanied by the director of the Museum, Elena Ruiz.

The new visual, located at the beginning of the corridor that connects the Museum with the Roman theater, a journey through the evolution of the theater, in the words of Montero, and helps improve understanding and to have a more accurate idea of ​​what was and is today, he underlined.

Throughout their three minutes, visitors can witness the urban evolution of this sector of the Cerro de la Concepción, the Asclepius of Polybius, which begins at the end of the second century BC when building a Roman neighborhood, and then amortized time for the construction of the theater building, in the time of Augustus.

The architecture of the great Roman building conditioned the urban evolution of the hill, especially in medieval times when the city was concentrated in the vicinity of the Castle and rise the foundations of the first Christian church.

This new facility will also serve to understand the preserved remains under the church Santa Maria la Vieja.

In short, recorded for this project phases are: Phase Tardorepublicana (late second century BC-I BC) Augustan phase (late first century BC); Islamic Medieval Phase (XIII century) Christian Medieval Phase (second half of the thirteenth century ); Burials seventeenth and eighteenth centuries on the terrace late medieval, and the Crypt in the nineteenth century.

The cost of this project is 14,500 euros and is part of European funding line, Digital Heritage, as explained Molino, who works in the recovery of all the cultural, architectural or historic Murcia, in this case, using digital reconstruction techniques.
