The biggest rush to climb El Calvario and San Julian (23/04/2013)

The Institute for Social Services continues its program TAS (Tourism Active and Healthy) with which aims to promote physical activity among elderly and disabled, this time with the completion of Route 46, including carrying the Cross and St. Julian, on Friday April 26.

It is a journey of 13 kilometers, with a medium-high difficulty and the output will be from the esplanade of Peak, at 8.00 hours.

From there, depart towards Santa Lucia, through the Paseo Alfonso XIII, Captains Ripoll, Cuesta del Batel, up to the crane Samson and, hence, southward to take the trail that goes up to the castle San Julian.

After a snack and enjoy the view, go to Calvary, then lowered to Lo Campano and back to the starting point.

The chapel of Mount Calvary is located southeast of the city of Cartagena, on the mountain of the same name (Cerro de San Juan) to 221 m altitude, near the top, and Castillo de San Julian.

Tradition has it that as early as the seventeenth century was a Grand Cross, crowning the hill, which has since started calling Calvary.
