The Department of Culture has begun work to restore the tile mosaics that show a picture of Cervantes and the text of his Journey to Parnassus on arrival at the port of Cartagena.
Both mosaics were placed at the foot of the former military government in the 50s of last century, with the idea of ​​welcoming visitors to the city.
Some of the tiles are deteriorated and the company has been contracted to carry out the restoration will employ about it for a month and a half.
Also take the opportunity to repaint the wall canvas in which lie both mosaics, which has chipped due to moisture.
This morning he put a fence around the area, which is also the plaque commemorating the third anniversary of Cervantes in 1905, which was originally located at the Graduate School of Cartagena (the first in Spain) and a mosaic with most important milestones in the history of the city, placed both there for 13 years.
