Others arrested tore the copper wire from the streetlights of various populations and sold it to a junkyard
The Guardia Civil Murcia has developed two research to clarify the theft of copper wiring in an electrical substation of Cartagena and the lighting of Los Nietos, Sea Glass, and The Minor Outlying Islands Urrutias, municipality of Cartagena .
These actions have resulted in the arrest of six people suspected of criminal typology, in addition to the recovery of 160 pounds of copper wire that had been stolen from the installation of street lighting in the four districts.
Services are framed within the "Provincial Plan Copper Theft" that the Guardia Civil de Murcia has enabled to prevent and clear up any criminal activity related to the removal of this metal.
The Civil Guard began the first of investigations after detecting the commission of several thefts of large amounts of electrically conductive wiring in an electrical substation facilities in Cartagena, criminal acts that caused extensive damage to the same.
The authors of the robberies agreed to such facilities on three separate occasions.
To do this, cut the safety fence and came to subtract 1,500 kilograms of copper wiring that reforms were to be used in electrical substation.
The result of the research conducted, the officers identified the occupants of the vehicle used to transport the stolen wiring, which later were arrested and brought to justice as suspected of several robberies.
With respect to the hamlet of Los Nietos Cartagena, the Meritorious developed research related to the same type of crime, upon learning of the theft of several rolls of copper wire from city streetlights.
Thanks to the cooperation of citizens, the Civil Guard obtained valuable insights into the authorship of the robbery, figuring it was committed by a group of three people, the result of research, were identified, located and arrested on suspicion of the crime investigated.
The analysis of the information obtained in the performance has allowed clarifying agents authorship of three other public lighting subtractions that were allegedly perpetrated by the now detained in the districts of Mar de Cristal, smaller islands and Los Urrutias.
In parallel, officers located a management company and scrap metals copper stolen much of public lighting, resulting in a total weight of 160 kilograms, so we proceeded to the arrest of the manager of the junkyard, for an alleged offense of receiving.
Detainee
The Guardia Civil has proceeded to the arrest of six people, five of them on suspicion of several counts of burglary and sixth offense of receiving, all identified as:
- Spanish, 39 years and resident of Cartagena.
- Spanish, 36 years and resident of Cartagena.
- Spanish, age 21 and resident of Cartagena.
- Spanish, 41 years and resident of Cartagena.
- Spanish, 42 years and resident of Cartagena.
- Spanish, 35 years and resident of Cartagena.
Five of those arrested have a criminal record for committing crimes.
Effects recovered:
As part of the proceedings has been recovered 160 kilograms of copper wire lighting which, after being brought to justice, have been returned to their rightful owners.
Detainees and proceedings initiated have been made available to the judicial authorities of Cartagena (Murcia).
