The Councillor for Sports, Diego Ortega, today introduced the Municipal League Athletics I Intercentros, an event which takes place from 15 to 30 April and is organized by the Sports Department, within the ADE (Approach to Sport à ‰ lite ), and Elcano Athletics Club, with the collaboration of the Athletics Federation of Murcia UCAM and Athletics, framed in the area of Sports School.
This league is the result of the interest that has taken the Athletics in recent times between Cartagena schools, which already had its moment in the 80s, Ortega noted, and is a continuation of activities that last year resulted in a huge turnout as the Days of Playing Athletics and Olimpiade, which included about 2,000 children from 27 schools.
The presentation of this first edition of the Athletics League, also attended by the President of the Athletics Federation, Juanma Molina, and Athletics Club president Elcano, Alfredo Castillo.
The latter explained the technical aspects of the event, to be held in two phases, a preparatory phase, between 15 and 18 April, and the final phase, which will take place on April 30 from 9 to 14:00 in Municipal Athletic Track.
A total of 19 schools that have registered to participate in the league, leading to some 400 young athletes born in 2001 and 2002, to demonstrate their skills and compete in the athletics track, through various forms, as the 500 meter sprint, relay, shot put and high jump and long, which give glamor to the event.
