The City of Cartagena, through the Municipal Institute of Social Security (IMSS) and from Care Program for Elderly and Disabled, presented this spring a hundred educational activities, recreational, cultural and social, which is expected to involved more than 3,000 people.
Thanks to Informayor program, the largest of Cartagena may remain active physically, socially and mentally. Ultimately, it presents an opportunity to have a healthy aging in contact with other seniors.
The activities for the months of April, May and June are divided into different groups: Workshops in senior centers and disabled Healthy Aging Program, courses and workshops, intergenerational activities, Cultural Tours, Activities Museums, TAS Program (Tourism Healthy and Active), Weeks Cultural, social and cultural activities and performances.
A total of 36 senior centers conducted theater workshops, crafts and will be touring folk traditions.
Within the first group, there is also the Program The Experience Chest, through which knowledge is exchanged in various fields such as painting, computer science, or bobbin Spanish for foreigners.
Stimulation of memory, concentration or the impartation of gerontogimnasia classes, in collaboration with the Department of Sports, are just some of the initiatives outlined by the Healthy Aging program, in which 37 centers will be added over Cartagena this initiative.
People over age 60 and disabled citizens also have an opportunity to expand and improve their knowledge and skills of the hand of the numerous training courses and workshops. Supporter and introduction to computers, the Internet and social networking, storytelling and illustration, basic English, basic home repairs, or actions on art history or the importance of the flora and fauna of the region, are among the topics to be discussed.

The TAS program again returns to traditional Friday March and hiking trails.

This wide range of activities is completed by the Cultural Week to be held in different parts of Cartagena: XXV Anniversary Marfagones Mills (from 18 to 23 June), The Belones (from 27 to 31 May), Championship Board Games New Club Cartagena (19 and 20 June), The Aljorra (from 10 to 15 June) and the celebration of Grandfather and Grandmother (April 26 to May 4).
