The Local Government of the City of Cartagena has approved the proposal of Councillor Rea Planning, Heritage and Environment, Joaquin Segado, for the extension of separate collection of clothes, shoes and toys used by installing new containers in public.
As reported by the government spokesman, José Cabezos, the Board has approved the signing of an agreement with the NGO Partnership Project Southeast reused and recycled which has among its objectives the development of social projects and programs aimed at the most disadvantaged sections of the population.
Among these projects is collecting used clothing and shoes, either for the purpose of putting them back in value or for use as raw material in the manufacture of new clothes and belongings.
Cartagena City Council has found that the organization has all environmental permits required for the implementation of waste management operations.
The agreement, which runs for two years, states that all collection operations the waste deposited in the containers of clothes, shoes and toys will be borne by the organization, as well as communication and information campaigns to be developed to regard.
It also states that all costs associated with the management, maintenance and expansion of the service shall be borne by the Association, not existing any financial obligation to the city of Cartagena.
25 containers will be placed in different areas of the municipality, which will add to the 20 already existing and installed in October 2012 through a similar agreement with the Abraham Project.
The ultimate target of collecting these new containers will Caritas Cartagena through a project agreement with the Association of Southeast reused and recycled.
