The eighth edition of the Prize Mandarache readers formation, driven by the Youth Council of the City of Cartagena, has closed its registration period with a record turnout. A total 3,758 people participate in some of its three modes (Award Mandarache Hache Award and Reading Clubs Network) and read the books finalists of this year.
Young people between 15 and 30 years make up the jury of the 324 committees Mandarache Prize reading.
Participants come from nearly all secondary schools in the municipality, Pust, associate center UNED-Cartagena, the Regional Center for Adult Education, the volunteer program for youth enrolled IMPLICA2 and free.
Each committee consists of six persons thus a total of 1,944 young readers will vote Mandarache VIII Award, the highest literary jury of the country.
The Youth Literature Prize Hache, who works with the same formula as above, is given by adolescents 12 to 14 years.
A total of 1,542 readers engaged in reading the 257 committees.
Finally, the network of clubs, aimed at over 30 who enjoy the opportunity to read the novels Mandarache finalists and meet the authors, without the right to vote, has 272 enrolled.
These clubs are organized in municipal libraries, literary workshops People's University, the University Senior UPCT and the UNED library.
Counting enrollees this year, over 22,000 people have registered and read books through this initiative in his 8 year career.
