Councillor for Women, Clara Hall, along with the president of the Federation of Associations of Women of Cartagena, Isabel Mateos, have delivered this morning around 500 kilos of nonperishable food to the soup kitchen of the Good Samaritan.
Councillor Cartagena has placed special emphasis on the efforts of the Federation, as it was the first year that it has launched this charity campaign. Isabel Mateos, president of the Federation, expressed his wish that the project can be repeated next year.
For his part, Fernando Prieto, volunteer in charge of External Relations of the Good Samaritan Social Dining, stressed that solidarity is not in crisis. Currently, this social institution serves a daily average of 450 people.
It has highlighted that the profile of the people has changed in recent years due to the current economic climate.
These amount to supply 500 kilos of the center for a week.
And, for example for each Thursday paella made the dining room needed some 50 kilos of rice.

The Good Samaritan Social Dining dragged a debt of 70,000 euros as of December 20.
However, as said Fernando Prieto, the figure has been paying off thanks to the donation of 30,000 euros of Cartagena entrepreneur, Diego Zamora, as the autonomous region has paid the debt with the company since 2010.
A total of 20 women's associations in the municipality of Cartagena, of the 68 that are part of the Federation, have contributed to this initiative, which began life before December thanks to the information campaign conducted through the blog : Federation of Women of the Mediterranean.
For 2013, the target set by the soup kitchen of the Good Samaritan is still receive donations from individuals and organizations across the Murcia region and have the support of the City of Cartagena.
