Peñalver Andres Conesa, Slum neighbor Lady of Charity, was the winner in a drawing for a bicycle, among the 460 participants in the various briefings and county neighborhoods that have been developed within the recycling campaign promoted by Ecoembes and the city of Cartagena.
The draw was conducted this afternoon at the Palace Hall by the Councillor for the Environment, Palazón Carolina, and delivery will take place soon.
As you may recall recycling campaign began last October with the goal of decreasing the levels of improper waste that occur in yellow and blue containers.
The initiative has been collaboration with the Federation of Neighborhood Associations of the city, and has had a presence since then in different media, internet and billboards.
The campaign also had a direct and personal side, with holding information sessions in 28 social local municipality, which were given advice on how to recycle better and shed doubt on the waste to be deposited in each container.
In recent years, the number of recycling has grown in Cartagena, and the degree of awareness, in part, by increasing the number of containers.
Just off the 107 tonnes of lightweight containers that were collected in 2001, in 2011 it reached the 2484 tons.
Cardboard paper has come from 1822 tonnes in 2001, the 3758, 2011, and in glass, from 1026 tonnes in 2001, to 2555 in 2011.
Altogether during these 11 years have collected 22,626 tons of glass, cardboard paper 39,205, and 21,279 containers.
