It was in 2006 when from Space Mobility, belonging to the Youth Space Youth Department of the City of Cartagena was launched Languages Bag, free and entertaining way to learn languages and meet people of different nationalities.
There are two ways to participate in this program, as reported by Maria Martinez Love of Youth field.
The first is the exchange of emails between users of the program, while the second is led by the various activities that can be done and trying to combine culture, language and sociability.
Thus we find the book club, guided tours to different tourist spots in the city, in the original projections and workshops online resources.
Last night, the event was in Patrick Brewery where about twenty people gathered from 21.30 for conversations in different languages, mainly English, but also German, French or Italian.
Best known as the Tertulia Babel, the meeting is usually held every fortnight. To some here, last night was his first time and saw it as a way to lose the shame and loose with the language.
Others take more than three years and attending activities for youngsters is a way to save money and meet new people.
Word of mouth also works and many have come to know these days thanks to the assiduous friends Language Exchange.
As explained by Mary Love, are European volunteers who, thanks to the Youth in Action program of the European Commission, involved in these activities while performing their respective projects.
Currently, there are four volunteers in Cartagena that, during a stay of no more than 12 months, are doing their projects in Botica Book in the program and in the Stock Infoviajes Language.
Also, there are many young Cartagena who have moved to Finland and Germany with this European program.
