The City Council will join the celebrations of the centenary of the birth of Antonio Cartagena Piñana Segado singer, to be held in 2013, and will dedicating a public space, a place in which it becomes clear that this extraordinary illustrious personage relevance Flamenco has been and is in the history and culture of the city and that her figure last in the memory of all Cartagena.
This was stated by the Councillor for Culture, Rosario Montero, the centenary organizing committee, headed by Miguel Celdran, President Piñana Antonio Peña, during meetings held this morning to discuss the ideas that the committee wants to launch to celebrate the event, meeting that also featured Antonio Casado, event coordinator.
Miguel Celdran recalled the importance of Antonio Piñana for their efforts in the study and recovery of Cartagenera, flamenco own this land, and is also founder of a series of singers and flamenco guitarists who are now represented by his son, Jose Antonio, and grandchildren, brothers Carlos and Curro Piñana.
The centennial events will begin on January 11, 2013, with the official unveiling of the Centennial Regional Assembly, and will close on January 12, 2014, with the celebration of a Mass Flemish Charity.
Meanwhile, throughout the year is scheduled to be held roundtables, performances, lectures and conferences, with the participation of flamenco, writers, poets, and various personalities and renowned specialists in the world of flamenco.
It is also preparing a big show with the participation of various local and foreign artists as a tribute to the figure of Antonio Piñana, father.
