Coinciding with the 150th anniversary of the birth of Victor Beltrí and Roqueta architect, the building of the Old Barracks Seamanship Instruction (CIM) will host on Thursday 13 December at 20.00 hours the opening of the exhibition of the modernist artist.
The exhibition, organized by the Association of Architects of the Region of Murcia, the Commission Beltrí 2012, the Polytechnic University of Cartagena and the city of Cartagena, discusses the life and work of this great architect who, though born in Tortosa (Tarragona) , is making Cartagena.
The exhibition, which is presented as the culmination of all the activities of the Commission Beltrí throughout 2012 around the figure of the architect, will be open until 12 January. Addition, visitors can enjoy in the Municipal Archives of Cartagena, located in the building of the Artillery Park, the original plans for the extensive work of the architect who changed the image of the city of Cartagena.
The shot selection includes some of the most significant buildings of its author, public (Casa del Niño, Board) and private (Master House, Casa Zapata, Dorda House, Llagostera House, Foundry FrigÃ¥rd) and some other no less interesting but not actually built (draft fish).
There are also examples of other buildings less spectacular but serve to complete the picture of their production, as neighboring houses in the Old Town (houses on the street of Charity and in San Francisco) and the Eixample (Houses of the Catalans ) or groups of houses in the neighborhoods outside (group homes in Los Dolores).
Finally, we present the planes of a villa or hotel designed by Beltrí for land it owned in the Eixample, and the title of architect registered in the book of royal charters of the City in 1897.
A tortosino IN CARTAGENA
Beltrí began to perform the job in Tortosa and Gandia to then land in Murcia where he worked as Architect of the Treasury (1893-1897).
He went to his arrival in Cartagena in 1895 when it developed its best production aimed primarily at mining bourgeoisie of the time.
He cultivated the modernist spirit, which materialized in his works on the concept of globality of its buildings, getting in his works seamlessly integrating all the arts.
Architecturally Beltrí initially opted for eclecticism, to quickly integrate into a modernism which incorporates elements of Catalan schools, French, Belgian or Viennese.
Stresses the overall concept of the buildings, getting in his works seamlessly integrating all the applied arts, in the purest modernist spirit.
During his last years of life explored other architectural trends, prevailing at the time, being his last works rationalist style.
He died in 1935 in Cartagena.
150th ANNIVERSARY
During the year 2012 have made many activities around the figure of Victor Beltrí, his life and his work.
The climax will this show, which will be visible aspects of his life hitherto unknown architect who brought modernism to Cartagena and Murcia.
Will delve into its most important buildings in many details, unpublished and hitherto unknown photographs.
All this through more than 30 panels queresumen of intense personal and professional life of the architect who changed the face of the city.
