Repsol Foundation, the Port Authority of Cartagena and the DG Environment of Murcia collaborate in the initiative of the neighborhood and the Department of Environment to be held on Saturday November 24
Alums Neighborhood Board and the Department of Environment of the City of Cartagena commence on Saturday, November 24, various measures of reforestation and environmental restoration in the deputation of Alums Cartagena, with the collaboration of the Fundación Repsol, the Cartagena Port Authority and the Directorate General for the Environment of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia.
The performances will take place in the environment of existing windmill in the eastern part of this deputation, in the area of access to people from Escombreras Valley, along the road, in the peripheral zone of the Sports Pavilion the football field, in several gardens central promenade through the village, and an existing ground slope on the northern approach of this population.
The actions to be carried out consist of cleaning and removal of residue in these areas, the planting of about 4,000 copies of various plant native trees and shrubs, and environmental restoration and landscaping of some of these enclaves.
The total surface on which it intends to operate is about 13,000 square meters.
Planting will begin next Saturday, from 10 am to participation in these tasks the residents of Alums, students and teachers of the school alums and members of associations ISOL (Murcia Association of Psychosocial Rehabilitation) and APANDA (Association of Parents of Hearing Impaired Children).
There will also be a group of volunteer students from the Polytechnic University of Cartagena.
Plant species that are to be used are from the vast majority of ANSE nurseries in the neighborhood of La Concepción and the Directorate General for the Environment in El Valle.
Among the species that will be used include the sabina mora, Aleppo pine, stone pine, oak, palm, mastic, esparto, the albardín, thyme, rosemary, lavender and strawberry.
The area you will focus most of the work scheduled for next Saturday is next to the sports facilities of the town, where it will make a plantation on an area of over 5,500 square meters that contribute to visual screening existing industrial facilities nearby.
The species to be used in this area have been provided by the Repsol Foundation, Port Authority and Department of Environment.
Also noteworthy planting to be held at around Alumbres windmill on an area of over 2,600 square meters, which aims to improve the landscape of this area in the near future that can be used for purposes tourism, education and culture.
The action in this area, which will be borne entirely by the Port Authority of Cartagena, entails cleaning, replacement of perimeter fencing and planting a thousand plant species.
Another action that includes this project unique is the environmental restoration and landscaping of existing ground slope on the northern town, which will be borne entirely by the Repsol Foundation.
This project will consider the sealing of some existing mining material outcrops on the surface of the slope, the contribution of a layer of topsoil, installing ten lines of planting native species with drip irrigation, placing a gabion wall 1 meter high and 140 meters long and the installation of a channel rainwater harvesting in the upper area, all with the objective of avoiding the drag caused by runoff and improve the image of this area.
The project will be completed with the planting to be undertaken in a park located in the center of town and two plantations that will be held in the southern part of the population, the latter with large trees and shrubs to help shield bearing visual industrial plants Escombreras Valley.
Planting is scheduled to begin at 10.30 am and will continue throughout the morning.
