CreeCT Association, recently formed by a group of citizens of Cartagena, nature lovers, starting off calling a reforestation with native trees on Mount Galeras on Sunday November 25.
The activity, which is in collaboration with the Spanish Armada, is planned as a day of coexistence between associations, neighborhood groups, and individuals wishing to participate in military recovery of the original tree-covered Sierras originally Cartagena.
Mount Galeras came early twentieth century and completely deforested soils had high levels of erosion.
After the Civil War, was almost entirely repopulated by the Navy with Aleppo pine.
In summer 2003 he caused a huge fire swept through northern and eastern slopes, destroying most of the pine stands that covered and protected the soil throughout the area.
The aim of the activity is called the recovery of the vegetation on Mount Galeras could have originally formed largely by native species less flammable than pine and having fire resistance, with ability to regenerate after the passage of a fire such as cypress Cartagena, mastic, wild olive, palm or the cornical.
The native plant will be donated by the City of Cartagena and the Department of the Environment and Gral comes from the Association nurseries and tree nursery ANSE Valley.
Within the scheduled activity, includes a visit to the Castle of Galeras, which will be open to the audience as an exception, because of reforestation.
In this sense, we have the collaboration of the Association of Friends of the strengths of Cartagena (AFORCA) to conduct a brief tour of the monument.
