The Congregation of the Little Sisters of the Poor has received this morning Cartagena in Murcia Prize 2012, given annually by the Instituto Murciano Social Action of the Autonomous Community, in a ceremony presided over by the Minister of Health and Social Policy Maria Palacios Angeles.
The award of the prize to the group or person or entity that has stood for and awareness building efforts towards the integration of older people in the local area of ​​the Region of Murcia, had been proposed by the Department of Social Care the City of Cartagena, whose councilor, Antonio Calderon, has been commissioned to do the portrait of this congregation, with presence in Cartagena since 1882 and where they have done a commendable and selfless work in helping the elderly.
The award was presented by the CEO of Seniors, Enrique Pérez Abellán, and has been picked up by the mother superior of the congregation, Sister Maria Dolores Pérez González.
Along with the Little Sisters of the Poor of Cartagena, also were honored this morning at the awards more 2012 San Diego Residence of Lorca and Juan Tudela Legs, Uncle John Rita, as Person of the Year Mayor.
