The Traffic Department has transferred this morning to the local police in Cartagena a vehicle equipped with all necessary elements for speed and alcohol controls on urban roads in the municipality.
The event, which was held at the gates of the Palace Hall, have been the General Delegate of the Government in the Region of Murcia, Joaquin Bascuñana, the Mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro, provincial traffic chief, Victor Sales, and Councillor for Public Safety, Mariano Garcia.
The new vehicle, equipped with the identifying features of the Traffic Department, is assigned to the consistory undetermined date.
As pointed out by the Government Delegate, Cartagena is the twelfth agreement is signed with municipalities in the region for the transfer of these vehicles.
In the case of Cartagena is a vehicle used exclusively and not as in other municipalities, they do so shared.
The mayor stressed the preventive nature that have the controls that are intended to improve safety and avoid accidents, and has been pleased by the financial savings to the City's sale of this vehicle fully equipped.
For its part the Government Delegate commented that the two types of controls to be performed, the blood alcohol and speed are the two main causes of fatal accidents on the roads.
