The aim is to present the world of birds and conservation issues.
In Cartagena, the Association of Southeastern Naturalist (ANSE) organizes various activities.
Bringing the world of birds and their habitats to citizens is the main objective of this global celebration, in 2011, had Spain as one of the countries with the highest participation rate.
He held more than 150 events, with the participation of several thousands of people, thanks to the selfless work of hundreds of volunteers and associates.
Each year the celebration focuses on a particular theme ornithological world of birds and their conservation.
So, this year 2012 the theme is "From small Aventurer @ sa great citizens," children devoting full attention.
Awakening the love of nature and its conservation, without doubt, is an excellent pillar to help shape responsible citizens and respect the environment.
The Southeastern Association of Naturalists, ANSE, works in Cartagena organizing various activities:
- On Saturday, October 6, talk "Birds and agriculture" activity open to the public wishing to attend until all seats in local ANSE in Cartagena, C / Medieras 6, Mezzanine, left, from the 19 : 30 h.
- On Sunday, October 7, information booth in front of the Parque de la Cerda Rafael (Tentegorra) during the morning and an environmental itinerary around especially aimed at children.
The group will leave at 11:00 h's own information booth, lasting approximately an hour and a half.
- Tuesday to Friday, from 8 to 11 October: exhibition "Agriculture and biodiversity" of Anse in IES "Menárguez Antonio Costa" (Los Alcazares), accompanied by a talk about the birds and biodiversity.
This activity is aimed at students of the Institute.
- On Sunday 14 October, a bird will travel itinerary an agricultural area of ​​Cartagena field.
We will leave at 09:00 pm from outside the Cultural Center "Ramón Alonso Luzzy", returning at noon.
Is to take place in private vehicles of the participants themselves.
In Spain there is better information on the status of our bird populations and at the same time, a growing concern about the situation of many of our species.
The kestrel (Falco tinnunculus) is one of these species, because of the negative indicators that has accumulated in recent years in both the breeding season and in winter.
For this species, in the monitoring programs developed by ANSE, is an important wintering detected precisely in the area of ​​Cartagena.
The agricultural area of ​​our region is chosen every winter for many kestrels to pass the difficult winter to find food and tranquility among our crops.
Every year SEO elects the "Bird of the Year", in an attempt to focus attention on an environmental problem associated with the species, having been designated the year 2012 the ratchet (Coracias garrulus).
The European Roller is one of the most beautiful and striking birds of our wildlife.
Its name comes from its song, which is similar to the sound made by a wooden rattle (cra-cra-cra-cra-cra).
She was elected Bird of the Year for disseminating threats to the migratory species that is becoming increasingly scarce in our country.
Its small population and the decline experienced by the species in the last fifteen years, justify their current threat category as "vulnerable" in the Red book of birds of Spain, and is protected by national and European level.
In the Iberian Peninsula this decline is estimated around 40%, but in some regions is much stronger, for example in Madrid were known about 30 breeding pairs 10 to 15 years ago and currently there are more than five.
We finally emphasize that ANSE has had the invaluable collaboration of the School "Virgin of Begoña," the Institute "Menárguez Antonio Costa" (Los Alcazares) and the Commonwealth of Taibilla Channels in organizing these activities.
