With a dual objective, preserving the environment and the fight against poverty and social exclusion, the City of Cartagena has signed a collaboration agreement with the Abraham Project Association, a non-profit entity, for implantation in the municipality of 25 containers separate collection of clothes, shoes and toys.

Among the day today and Monday are now installed 25 containers, which will be located primarily in the area of ​​Eixample, one will be in the Mall zenith in neighborhoods such as La Vaguada, San Antón, Source Cubas, Private Mediterranean, Santa Lucia, pains or New Cartagena, and councils, as Los Belones, Molinos Marfagones and Algar.
The covenant with Abraham project lasts for two years and, after the first 6 or 7 months, will take stock of the campaign and will evaluate the possibility of installing more containers, as according to rules, there must be a container for every 3,000 inhabitants.
In terms of process waste that follow, the secretary of the association Abraham Project, José María Chumilla, explained that a team of fifteen people is responsible for collecting the waste, which is collected daily and, when you reach a certain volume, leads to treatment plants where they are sorted and separated, which is serviceable will trace the second hand shops and sold at nominal cost, and the rest goes to recycling products.
Chumilla also emphasized the social aspect of the agreement, which will start up by Abraham Project, social programs, specifically occupational Partner Training Workshops through the Municipal Social Services.
The Abraham Project Association has spent fifteen years in the region, dedicated to the care of immigrants and people from social exclusion action they have with the money they collect as textile waste managers.
Currently have agreements with 40 municipalities and about 850 containers placed throughout the region.
