The Chief General Protection Force Navy, Luis Meléndez Pasquin, has passed this morning by the Palace Hall to say goodbye to the mayor Pilar Barreiro, before leaving for his new assignment, the NATO base in Naples.
I just spent a year in Cartagena, a city he barely knew and that has changed for the better since the first time I was here years ago, but I have been well received and it is unfortunate that now that we have to leave we were seated, but that's military life, said General following his meeting with the mayor.
Pasquín Melendez, a native of Ferrol, was appointed in July 2010 and became the highest infant graduation Cartagena naval base.
It has been in the port city since September 2011.
