The mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro, recalled today that the extension of the working day of municipal council is dictated to by a mandatory provision.
Asked by reporters about his position on the announcement of protests by municipal unions during the proclamation of the Festival of Carthaginians and Romans, Barrerio explained that all we do in the City is implementing a state law that extends to all public and which have the force of law, is binding, so that is what we intend that such compliance is done in the manner that is less burdensome for public employees.
Barreriro has insisted that dialogue remains open by the Department of Personnel and assured that the way the day has been extended by two hours a week, leaving two afternoons officials to recover the possible lack of hours, is reasonable and possible to reconcile family life with work.
Finally, the mayor has asked city employees, while they are free to protest, respect the revelers, who have placed their hope and their savings in preparing a festival that begins today with the opening to be held at 9 night in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento.
