The Local Government Board, meeting this morning, chaired by the Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, has adopted a multi-annual expenditure of 600 000 euros per year for the recruitment of fixed communications service for voice, data and mobile of the City of Cartagena.
As explained by the Councillor for New Technologies, Diego Ortega, with the new contract the government team expects to save around 250 000 euros, because with the current contract with Telefónica the figure is around 850,000 euros.
This is possible, according to the council, not only by a reduction in rates of operators, but also for the work of streamlining and limiting the use of mobile phones and the City and optimizing the data communication network and internet.
Ortega also put forward some aspects of the competition, whose specification must be approved at the next Board of Governors, as there will be two contests: one for mobile and one for fixed telephony and internet.
As explained what you want to do is enable the participation of a greater number of niche players in each of these areas and more competition in tenders.
The service will be to provide fixed telephony, Internet and data communication to 1,200 public employees of the City, as well as about 400 mobile terminals, which are assigned to staff and policymakers, according to their needs and with a limited balance des 20 euros per month for officials.
