Trade Councilman Mariano Garcia, met this morning with the president of COEC, Pedro Pablo Hernández, and representatives of different business sectors to listen before setting to work on the new rules
The City Council and entrepreneurs already have to work to implement the Law on Freedom time of the trade.
Trade Councilman Mariano Garcia, met this morning with the president of COEC, Pedro Pablo Hernández, and business representatives from various sectors of the city.
This first session has been motivated by the interest of council and business to work together on the new law of freedom times. We have come to listen to entrepreneurs in each sector of Cartagena to know what their views on changing the Trade Act, explained the mayor after the meeting.
Also, both the councilman of Commerce, as president COEC, have responded very positively that employers come to the table to discuss and reflect on the issue, although there are different opinions.
The law has to determine areas of tourist influence, which is where you will give that freedom time. This meeting is convened so that when the City Council has to determine which areas of tourist influence, consider the concerns of each business and that, if possible, the contemplated, Hernandez specified.
The City Council has six months later to determine which areas of the municipality known for its tourist season. Once defined, the City shall obtain the approval of the Autonomous Community to bring the amendment to the trade bill out.
According to the councilman of Commerce: No dates or locations are shuffled because the first thing they've done is come and listen to each of the sectors.
Consensus is difficult but it sure will get a rapprochement of positions.
The new legislation provides for the opening of stores from 72 to 90 hours a week and eight to ten minimum annual openings on Sundays and holidays.
