School of Public Safety of the City of Cartagena (ESPAC) has been accredited by the Department of Public Health as a training center to teach courses using DEA (External Defibrillator Semi / Auto) for non-medical personnel.
Such courses, which have a duration of twelve hours must be taught by certified medical staff and centers that meet a set of strict requirements for equipment and staff training has exceeded requirements of the City of Cartagena ESPAC .
Thus, the School of Public Security has formed a team of medical professionals 9 (3 doctors and 6 nurses), whose director is Dr. Antonio Pastor Clement, an official of the City and specialized in emergency medicine and sports.
With this accreditation as an approved training center will prevent staff from Police, Fire, Civil Defense and other officials who are required to conduct these courses, have to go to private schools or licensed professionals outside the City Council, and also allow, where appropriate, that groups outside the City such as associations, companies, schools or institutions, through appropriate agreements or arrangements, are trained at the School of Public Safety in this discipline.
The use of DEA is increasingly imposed on public and private schools in which there is a large influx of personnel and vehicles of the emergency services (Police, Fire and Civil Protection) and save lives, to be able to act immediately by nonmedical personnel in cases of stroke or heart attack.
Thus, it also improves the safety of citizens when they go to municipal buildings.
Accreditation obtained with these courses have a duration of 2 years, renewable for the same period of time with a 4 hour course.
