The 225 young people from 51 countries that make up the Ruta Quetzal XXVII arrive this afternoon at the city port, aboard the Navy ship Galicia, from Malaga.
The arrival will be at four in the afternoon and visit the Submarine Base.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, July 18, young explorers will learn the major historical sites of Cartagena.
The route will start at nine o'clock and will tour covering the M useum ARQUA, the Roman Theater and the District of the Roman Forum. In the afternoon, will visit the new Repsol refinery, one of the sponsors of the route.
This visit responds to the invitation of the mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro, journalist and adventurer, Miguel de la Quadra-Salcedo in his visit to Cartagena last March.
It should be remembered that the route is not Quetzal stops in Cartagena for three years.
The Ruta Quetzal is a project sponsored by the King Juan Carlos I, supported by the European Union and universal interest declared by UNESCO.
Throughout its 33 years of life (27 editions), Ruta Quetzal has managed to unite more than 8,000 young people between 16 and 17 years, traveling more than 20 countries to show the wonders of Latin American culture and civilizations and their commonalities and their contrasts with Spain.
