President of the Association of care for people with Down syndrome (grip) in Cartagena, Santiago Lopez, has announced that this October will launch a floor for the disabled, a project that aims to prepare these young people in the future, can live their lives independently.
The cooperation of the City, in the person of the Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, and the councilman of Social Care, Antonio Calderon, has been key to move forward with this action, because we had few resources and we have had a hand in contact with foundations , hence it has come today this morning to inform the mayor and thank him, noted Lopez.
The apartment is located in Calle La Paz and has yielded Roses Foundation, running the reforms by the Association.
It can accommodate four people with disabilities and support, which also will be with them.
The project involved both families and the disabled themselves, agreeing to act progressively.
So, initially, housing will deal only during the day and after about 2 or 3 months, will begin to spend the night at weekends, so go slowly lengthening periods as young people will gain independence.
Currently, 104 families Cartagena gripping part.
