Technical Environment council of the City of Cartagena has checked this morning the source of the oily residue coming out of manholes Veronica Street, next to the BDC, which yesterday caused the alarm of the neighbors.
According to the technicians verified, the source was in a nearby warehouse for vegetable oils, where unlicensed municipal containers were cleaned and discharged, again without authorization, the waste to the sewer.
Engineers have initiated two disciplinary proceedings to the company: one for the illegal dumping and another for exercising the cleaning of containers without a license.
Also taken samples of the waste to determine its composition and has warned that the company must immediately legalize their activities by the relevant technical project which will determine the environmental conditions to be fulfilled.
