The Local Government Committee meeting this morning under the chairmanship of the Mayor, Pilar Bareiro, approved the proposal of Councillor Rea Planning, Environment and Heritage, Joaquin Mowing on the Strategy for Sustainable Mobility Cartagena.
This is a document that originated in meetings and conferences for participation in the field of mobility Ayunyamiento performed in 2008.
It reflects the conclusions reached with the actions that have already been conducted by the City Council to promote cycling and encourage pedestrian and public passenger transport, and which intends to implement in the field of mobility, short, medium and long term.
This initiative has been developed to improve the organization and coordination of work of the various municipal departments with responsibilities in the area of mobility, and between these and the other institutions and social agents linked to this area.
The ultimate goal of this work is to reorient the mobility system of the municipality of Cartagena in a sustainable manner.
The strategy includes more than 300 actions have been organized into 32 programs of action that make up 13 strategic lines of work.
This seeks to improve the quality of life in the city, protect the environment, improve the competitiveness of enterprises, optimize the use of public space and protect the health of Cartagena.
The most prominent areas of the strategy are relevant to increased pedestrian mobility, promoting cycling in the city, improved public transport, responsible use and sharing of private vehicles, improvement of road infrastructure, improving road safety, minimizing the effect of traffic on the environment and the inclusion of mobility in urban planning, among others.
DISMISSED THE APPEAL OF HANSA URBANA
In addition, the Board has agreed to dismiss the Hansa Urbana calling for the suspension of the execution of the rehabilitation work of the Monastery of Saint Ginés de la Jara, ordered by the City.
The Board has considered the matter that should prevail heritage protection on the particular interests of the company.
