Students of IES Mediterranean are now a little more into the orbit of the books.
Precisely so is the name of the program that coordinates the school within the MAPLE project to promote reading and which convenes every two years the Ministry of Education.
Teachers at Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, Málaga and Extremadura spend a few days in Cartagena to close the project jointly developed by the IES Mediterranean for a couple of years.
The Councillor for Youth, Ruth Collado, has received the 14 teachers at the Palace Hall and thanked them his involvement in the program.
Students have participated in competitions of short stories, poetry workshops, meetings with author and a reader's club.
One of the activities that caught their attention was an exchange of letters.
Young people discovered what is the thrill of writing and receiving a letter, which was formerly very common but has been lost over time, explained the director of IES Mediterranean, Ines Maria Iglesias.
This year we have broken the school schemes and have noticed an increase in participation among high school students.
According to Iglesias, are activities that focus on all students of compulsory, but we're glad to see that students from other courses as 2nd year have involved a lot this year, should be as varied by the program we have.
The MAPLE program, which aims to promote and encourage reading and reaching out to libraries, has been developing during the school years 2010/2011 and 2011/2012.
