Cartagena has emerged this morning in the Spanish Mediterranean city with more blue flags to make the distinction that rewards that rewards environmental management and water quality to the coastline, nine beaches and a path, the La Manga Cabo de Palos.
A number of blue flags surpassed only Sanjenjo Galician town on the Galician coast.
This morning has made public the decision of the International Blue Flag Jury 2012.
In the Jury will participate, along with the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), as a creator and manager of the program, the agencies of United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP-UNEP) and the Tourism Organization (WTO-WTO), together with other organizations like the International Lifesaving (ILSE), the European Environment Agency (EEA), the European Union for Coastal Conservation (EUCC), the Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), a Expert in Environmental Education and the International Council of Associations of the Port Industry (ICOMIA).
At the level of Spain were awarded Blue Flags 638, 540 beaches and 98 marinas,
In Cartagena, the beaches that have earned this distinctive blue are Cala del Pino, Minor Outlying Islands, Mar de Cristal, Playa Honda, Levante Cabo de Palos, Cala Cortina, Cala del Barco, San Ginés and Playa Paraiso.
Three beaches than last year past: for Minor Outlying Islands, Boat Cove and Paradise Beach.
The Murcia region has achieved in this competition 26 blue flags.

The Puntica in San Javier; Castillico, Columbus Bank and Mistral Tabal in San Javier Carrion, The Palms, Los Narejos and Mistral in San Javier, El Alamillo, The Harbour, Bay and Nares, in Mazarron and Delicias, Levante , The Colony, West and Calarreona in à eagles.
QUALITY AND 11 Q
Councillor for Tourism, Palazón Carolina, was satisfied by the news after yesterday picked up in Madrid from the Minister of Industry and Tourism, José Manuel Soria, other symbols: the 11 Q of quality awarded by the Institute for Quality Tourism Spanish (ICTE), certification of quality systems specially created for tourism businesses.
These 11 Q quality have earned the coast of Cartagena, with its hundred miles of coastline, as the most distinguished in Spain, for the second consecutive year.
The beaches with the label are the Lesser Islands, Mar de Cristal, Playa Honda, Levante Lost Ship, La Gola, Cavanna, Cala del Pino, Galúa San Ginés and Cala Cortina, who join 18 others throughout the Region and 165 at the national level.
