The University Choir of Murcia and the Early Music Workshop of tomorrow will bring UMU Bach, HÃ ¤ nin and popular choral music to the Night of the Museums of Cartagena.
Murcia University Choir, directed by Jorge Losana, consists of 60 singers, mostly students at the University of Murcia.
Since its CREATION in 1966, by the choir have spent many generations of singers who sing from oratorios and classical works with symphony orchestras and chamber ensembles to folk music and zarzuela.
The University Choir has performed for almost all countries of Europe and many cities in Spain and has recorded an album called Magnificat.
For the Night of the Museums have chosen a popular program that includes African tribal dances, songs from the Caribbean, American gospel, soundtracks, Brazilian samba rock and roll, jazz and Japanese melodies.
The performance will be at 24 am in Plaza de la Merced.
Earlier, at 20.30horas in the ARQUA Temporary Room, will perform Early Music Workshop of UMU, an initiative that emerged in 2011 from the University Choir of Murcia itself and with 25 singers, 18 instrumentalists and 5 soloists, offer a program of sacred works of two of the greatest masters of baroque music, Johann Sebastian Bach and Friedrich HÃ ¤ nin.
Composed to celebrate the coronation of the kings of England or as funeral music to accompany the farewell to an old earl, both works show the genius of these two masters of musical counterpoint.
