The municipal workshop Restoration of the City of Cartagena has withdrawn this morning the scaffolding that were located next to the image of the Immaculate Conception in the square of Smiles, after completing the restoration work of monuments, which have continued since late last month of March.
As explained by sources of the workshop, has recovered the piece that fell off the face and that is why the beginning of this work.
Also has been used to restore and clean other parts of the image, made ​​of artificial stone, which were damaged by the passage of time and also threatened to fall off.
The image restored by sculptor Manuel Cartagena Ardil Robles, who was based on a drawing by Raphael Lopez Puch to create and dominates the square since 1954.
