The European Youth Festival of Greco-Latin Theatre has promoted two days in classical culture and history of Cartagena.
Between yesterday and today, 3,600 secondary school students and high school from different regions have to Cartagena with this festival which has helped the City through the Department of Culture.
In the sixteenth edition of the event are shown in the Auditorium of the Park Towers, the classics Oresteia, Aeschylus, Sophocles and Euripides; Pseudulus, Plautus, Oedipus Rex, Sophocles and Misanthrope, by Menander.
The meeting was attended schools in Granada, Valencia, Alicante, Albacete, Almeria and Murcia.
After attending the theater, the students visited the Roman theater and other fields of Cartagena Port of Cultures.
Since 1996 is held annually in the European Youth Festival Cartagena de Teatro Greco-Latin.
This activity began in Segóbriga (Basin) in 1983 on the ruins of its Roman theater.
This year, in addition to Cartagena, the festival has been held in Cantabria, Córdoba, Oviedo, Pamplona and Segóbriga.
The city of Cartagena has presented throughout the day today a great atmosphere in the center, since the visit of students must be added that of the 3,300 cruise passengers that have come ashore in the harbor.
So the cruise Windsurfing, Windstar Cruises company, arrived from Almeria morning, with 300 American passengers on board, and has remained docked until early afternoon and moved to its next stop: Valencia.
Also this morning the cruise docked Azura, from Cadiz, which was her first stop in Cartagena.
The Azura, one of the most modern ships of the shipping company P & O Cruises, with only two years of antiquity, has brought 3,000 tourists to Cartagena British nationals.
About 6 pm was scheduled to depart for Civitaveccia, Italy.
