The Municipal Government Board will meet on Friday, April 13, in the ordinary.
The meeting will take place from 9.30 pm in the council room of the Palace Hall and will be chaired by the Mayor, Pilar Barreiro.
Among the various issues that comprise the agenda, is hiring a monitoring service of urban traffic through a system of intelligent video surveillance in public.
The record has been driven by the Department of Public Safety.
Sources for this department explained that the accident data reflect a high percentage of accidents caused by forgetfulness or failure to observe the existing signage, mainly red light or improper turns.
The City Council, has for years, reducing gradually the accident based on ongoing campaigns to control traffic speed and pedestrian crossings.
These campaigns have been together for years with traffic surveillance through cameras, with good results.
The aim now is to implement new cameras with dedicated software that will detect and punish offenders.
The system will be implemented between 5 and 7 crosses the city especially contentious, and will selectively detect and record red light jumping or cross improper, at great risk.
The system will be mobile and may be transferred every six months to other crosses at all times be considered as of greater conflict.
This machine vision system will also study traffic patterns at intersections regulated common with which technicians can rework area traffic light plans and operating times of each phase and thus contribute to fluency and traffic safety .
The duration of this contract shall be two years renewable according to regulations, and the feature set the lifetime of the equipment in the life of the contract.
OTHER BUSINESS
In another vein, the Governing Board will address the proposed construction of the second phase of the Care Center for Children in Private Mediterranean and multi-annual spending authorization for a number of contracts which are intended to increase control, generate savings and improve the organization of municipal services.
