The crisis is not fazed by Carnival Cartagena, so if it decreases the budget, against all odds, the festivities do not stop growing, and groups to join the big parade, which are 70 and move to more than 3,500 people and jokes for the competition, reaching the figure of 13, four more than last year.
Councillor for Festivities, Florentina Garcia Vargas, and the president of Carnival, Carmen Sanchez, were displayed in the presentation of the party, convinced that this year will be the best Carnival you have lived so far in Cartagena.
The festivities begin on February 11 with the Grand Gala election of Carnival Queen and the proclamation, which will be borne by Antonio Madrid, former presidents of the Federation of troops and legions of Carthaginians and Romans, and end on day 21, with burning of Don Carnal.
In between, a whole program of activities among which the Regional Competition Chirigotas X City of Cartagena, 16 and February 17, whose performances take place at the Nuevo Teatro Circo and tickets will go on sale from January 27 at 10 am, at the desk of Nuevo Teatro Circo, Auditorium El Batel and online.
And those who do not have tickets but want to enjoy the jokes, you can make it through the two screens will be drawn to the street, at the gates of Circus Theatre, offering live performances.
The other major landmark is the Grand Parade Carnival with rides that run along the streets of downtown on Saturday February 18 and, finally, has had to shorten their journey, through unselfish cooperation of companies and businesses in the city.
So finally the parade will pass through the Port and Main Street, Plaza de San Sebastian, Puerto de Murcia, Carmen, Plaza of Spain, Paseo Alfonso XIII on the sidewalk of Adorers, turn-by-again Juan Fernandez Alfonso XIII and collection Hall Jiménez de la Espada.
As Carmen Sanchez recalled, despite budget cuts, with less than 50,000 euros (finally remains in the 105,000 euros provided by the City Council what they bring more sponsors), cuts in the festivities barely notice it, and affecting street activities that were developed during the week and will not have an essential impact on the Carnival.
CARNIVAL IN FIGURES
In this year's holiday parades involving 19 adults, 7 children and 7 troupes greater, plus 14 from outside.
Chirigotas Contests 13 and three of them coming from outside, namely Beniaján, Cabeza de Torres and Torrevieja.
For the choreography competition, there will be 7 groups of children choreography and 10 adult groups.
A choice of Queen Children are 3 candidates and the Queen of Carnival Cartagena, there are 6 candidates.
Prices shows: for the final Chirigotas Contest, 11 euro entry and the rest 8 euros.
As for Choice Gala Queen and Choreography Competition, will cost 3 euros.
