Consolidate the current configuration of the city and sets aside land for medium and long term for the arrival of freight transport
The Ministry of Public Works and Planning has approved the revision of General Plan of Cartagena to adapt to the Land Law of the Region of Murcia.
It is an instrument that responds to the economic and industrial needs of the municipality, as well as future communication infrastructures.
Councilor Antonio Sevilla said that the Plan is set "as a great planning tool for the port city and will be exemplary for other municipalities in the Region of Murcia".
The new rule establishes an allowance urban infrastructure for the future, with a reserve of soil medium and long term for the arrival of transport of goods across the Mediterranean Corridor, as well as high speed.
In this way, said Antonio Sevilla, "communications, including road infrastructure and also hydraulic, among others, are completed, forward-defined and a city in constant development."
Currently, there are 25 municipalities with planning adapted (over half), and all of them represent over 70 percent of the population and 75 percent of the regional territory.
In addition, another 12 already have initial or provisional approval of their plans, and the remaining eight have published the progress of the Plan or are in the process for their preparation, and they devoted their best efforts the Department.
Balanced and sustainable growth
The instrument will replace the revised Urban Plan 1987, which has been in place for almost 25 years, with a high degree of development and whose general lines are maintained in a consolidated city, in proposing a reorganization and improvement of urban heritage.
Antonio Sevilla explained that this plan "strengthens the current city and presents a balanced structure, marked by the convolutions existing content with growth, and especially sustainable."
In the new legislative text, north and west residential growths are collected, and to the east mixed residential growth and economic activity.
"The Plan includes the separation of spaces in terms of suitable soil types that cover any company that wants to settle in the city to develop its business, industrial and commercial viable proposals and secure," said the counselor.
The manager stated that the new regional plan proposes a balanced growth in the three principal axes of the municipality: the one corresponding to Cartagena-La Union, the North axis, to consolidate the growth in the belt of the highway, and west axis, to balance the relationship between town and countryside.
On the other hand, the tourist is located on the coast of east and west.
Are valued scenic resources of these areas to promote quality tourism, taking advantage of the few urban areas susceptible to transformation, as the Plan undeveloped land classified as more than 71 percent of the territory.
Distribution of land for the next 25 years
The sectored developable land for development is four percent of the municipal territory, with a total of 23.8 million square meters, of which 15.5 million are for residential use and 8.3 for economic activity.
The residential capacity of the Plan is 180,000, representing a natural growth, orderly and reasonable, in a horizon of 25 years, 85 percent of the population today.
Special emphasis has put the plan in the provision of land for economic activity, with a total of 26 million square meters of land for development, mainly located in the vicinity of Business Park and The Valley Camachos tailings, which sets out the measures appropriate to facilitate the implementation of industrial uses.
