Councillor and Director General of Security of the City of Cartagena, Mariano Garcia and Carlos Nieto, along with the council of the Presidency and Security, the City of La Unión, Carlos Martinez and Antonio Liarte have held a meeting with the CEO of Environment, María Teresa Navarro to start the cleanup of the area burned last August, in the Regional Park of the Ashes, Peak Calblanque and Guile.
These cleanup efforts, which aim to prevent future fires, will begin next January and will last until spring.
This will avoid new fires and conditioned access to the mountain, to enable more effective the work of extinction.
Both the city of Cartagena as the Union has requested the director general of the Environment to draft a Regional Plan of firefighting, encompassing protected areas that are in both municipalities.
Also, it is conducting a study of implementing a video surveillance system to have early detection of fires.
