The Civil Guard seized more than 40 kilos of fish caught illegally (07/12/2011)

Three people have been sanctioned and seized the boat and fishing gear used

Fish has been given to a charity center

Civil Guard officers in the Region of Murcia have seized over 40 kilos of fish caught illegally in Cabo de Palos, also seized the boat and fishing gear used for this illegal activity.

The Civil Guard was informed that the marine reserve of Cabo de Palos may be a victim of fishing for, without obtaining the necessary requirements for subsequent illicit trade.

As part of the services established to eradicate this illicit activity, the agents detected during the night at a boat sailing without lights, so we proceeded to identify the vessel and its crew.

This action allowed the detection and the interior of the boat had hidden large amount of fish caught illegally, lacking title skipper and safe navigation, lack of underwater fishing license and fishing exercise schedule is not stipulations.

Given these facts, the Civil Guard seized the vessel, fishing gear used and the fish caught illegally supposedly being reported all three occupants of the boat.

We continue the investigation to determine if the specimens have been captured in the marine reserve of Cabo de Palos, not ruling out the imputation of a crime relating to the protection of fauna and flora by these facts.

The fish seized over 40 kilos of grouper, redfish and sea bass, has been given to a charity center.

The Guardia Civil has enjoyed the cooperation of the fishermen of Cartagena and the Department of Ecology and Hydrology at the University of Murcia
